The major milestone of this year was quitting my day job and going full time on Growth Sprints.
A big reason that I left my position at ActiveCampaign was a bad manager (aka the reason most high performers leave companies) culminating in enough stress to give me a blood clot in my leg.
This was my second catastrophic health scare related to over-working.
If I’m going to wreck myself, its going to be building my dream, not somebody else’s.
Note:
This isn’t a full annual review. It’s what I was able to salvage from my notes app looking back from 2025.
Highlights:
- Vacations – Alabama and Carolina and Sedona
- Quit my job
- Got a dog in June
- Big house project – redid our kitchen and main living area to be more connected
- Bought a truck (second we’ve bought all cash – “I don’t have a rari but my whip is really mine though.” – Kyle)
- Kids stayed health
Lowlights:
- Failed to sell SEO for the Rest of Us
- Despite being a major part of my life for a long time, I decided Jiu Jitsu isn’t for me any more. Tried to make a return, got hurt again, and frustrated with poor instruction and meatheads
- Everything felt like it was moving so fucking fast
- Just execution and action
- All gas and absolutely zero fucking brakes.
- Probably why I hospitalized myself (again) this year.
Biggest Takeaway:
I made more this year than ever before.
That was amazing, but it’s freaking me out a bit.
I want to make less this next year.
I want to break the streak.
It’s freaking me the fuck out.
I can’t keep destroying my health in an endless pursuit of more.
